I stopped by Six Flags Great Adventure for Holiday in the Park on Nov 24th, 2023, to check out opening day. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. I have seen the props around the park on previous weeks and it was nice to see everything in action.
Parking
I arrived right around the opening time of 12 and it was a breeze to get through the parking booth and find a decent parking spot. I parked in preferred parking, but the general parking also had ample spots close to the entrance.
Crowds
There were lines waiting to get tickets, but it was nothing crazy and looked to be moving through well. The VIP entrance had hardly anyone in line and I was able to zip right through. Everyone was in good spirits and couldn’t wait to get in the park!
Inside the park was more of the same. The four hours I stayed the crowds never got to be too big, yet there were enough people so that it didn’t feel empty. I was able to walk the park quite a few times and had no issues getting anywhere I wanted to go.
Events
I checked out the events and enjoyed all of them! Most of the shows started around 3. I first checked out the holiday band who played a variety of holiday music. They were amazing and even had a little girl from the audience join in.
I then checked out Prancer’s Dancers which was a dancing group that also did singing and added a bit of comedy to the routine. They sang some fun songs that they made their own by changing the lyrics to make a story out of the songs.
I then checked out a duo guitar playing group that were also singing holiday songs. They were very talented, and I enjoyed watching them from in front of the fire pits. The crowd was very excited and quite a few people went up after the show to share how great they were.
On the way out I listened to Mrs. Claus reading stories to the children. The children were very happy sitting on the benches and listening to all the stories she had to tell.
Extras
There were quite a few fire pits around the park for anyone that needed to warm up or wanted to indulge in some smore’s making. I warmed myself once on my journey while watching the guitarists.
They had an area to see Jack Frost and an indoor area to meet Santa! All while Mrs. Claus was keeping kids entertained with stories.
I stopped by Johnny Rockets for a late lunch around 2:30 and it wasn’t too busy. quite a bit of the inside seating was taken but the lines were not too long, and I didn’t have to wait too long for my food. I still ended up eating outside at the picnic benches.
Conclusion
Six Flags Great Adventure Holiday in the Park was a great time, and I would recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. There are holiday themed shows, hot drinks, fire pits and even Smore’s. Who doesn’t love dangling a marshmallow over a fire pit then creating a smore’s! You can even pay a visit to Santa, Mrs. Claus and Jack Frost!
